The contact manager is a toy application and isn't even complete - so, yes, an implicit invocation architecture, implementing MVC, is overkill for that application. I'm building a blog app based on it as a small first app and I have another application lined up for Mach II after that. A colleague of mine is also evaluating Mach II for a project he's working on. It's worth learning about the principles behind Mach II - read Ben's white paper on the Mach II site.
