dunno what to tell ya, but I will say some of us found the MS ODBC drivers to work 
well with Oracle and CF5.  Yeah, dates are a PITA, just use Oracles TO_DATE() 
function...TO_DATE('12/31/2003','MM/DD/YYYY')
