Hi Mike, Cheers for getting back to me, couldn't wait any longer and went another route, always more than one way to.....
What was happening was that in your example of '00ˆ’91ˆ’80ˆ’3211504', it was stripping all the non numeric characters, but it was using the actual ISO code, so your example would be REReplace'd to '0013614691136146801361463211504', which isn't the actual phone number as it has left in the digits of the ISO code. We're running CF5, IIS5.0 and Win2K AS, but it was a bug fix on an existing app so I am not sure what was going on :-/ Anyway thanks for your time at it Mike, much appreciated! DC PS FYI just ended up checking for length and giving an error message informing them to use digits only.... not the ideal solution but works for me and the other developer ;-) -----Original Message----- From: Mike Mertsock Sent: 13 August 2003 03:58 To: CF-Talk Subject: Unwanted conversion in Form input David, I'm not having any problems with the test code. I don't really see where these dashes could be appearing. Do you want the code to strip out non-numeric characters, or is that just part of your debugging efforts? I tried copying and pasting the phone number with the long dashes that is in your code below the <!--- Output ---> comment and here's the results: The CFDUMP before the ReReplace shows: 00ˆ’91ˆ’80ˆ’3211504 The CFDUMP after the ReReplace shows: 0091803211504 So the ReReplace is removing those long dashes. Don't know what exactly you need to accomplish but thought I'd give it a shot. Good luck... Btw I'm running CFMX Updater 3, Windows XP, IIS 6, and your basic American/English installation, nothing non-default with the encoding or language settings.
