Oracle is probably just returning the date part of the value. Try...

select to_char(date1,'HH:MI:SS') from yourTable

I'm using oracle and when I try to disply time using timeformat
(#timeformat(date1,"HH:mm:ss")#) from one of the date field, it returns
0:00:00, why was that?
Any advise?
