In the past I've had people complain to me that they could not unsubscribe. I've
always given the information for their use, but either they never read the site,
footer or whatever. The personalized unsubscribe link is something designed to
do 2 things. The first is to allow someone to do a one click unsubscribe. The
second is to give a unique line that can allow me to see what address they're
using if they have a problem. Many times a problem turns out to be a person
subscribed under a different name, alias or forward and that unique ID helps me
nail them down.
That being said, I can't just allow a one click unsubscribe from the list
without some sort of check for identity. That is the reason for the password
challenge.
I've just rewritten the page to allow someone to do a one press request for
their password and get it in the mail. This should help people who want to get
off the list for any reason.
I'm hoping to write a new, centralized UI for the lists and all HoF subscription
information using the new Flash Pro.
