Open Computer management and if policies are enabled they will be right at the top of the tree. You can look at each one and determine if you need it enabled or disabled. If you are on a developer machine, you will probably be safe to disable any that you find enabled. On the other hand they are pretty well self explained and only serve as a layer between your applications and the OS.
