I don't know. I just did a quick and dirty test.
Stop/Start SQL7 then rev the engine to warm it up...
Records Blockfactor ms records/ms
3514 1 406 8.7
2130 100 344 6.2
3077 100 500 6.2
Stop/Start SQL7 then warm it up same way as above...
(Same sequence of queries that are none of the 3
queries that were timed.)
3514 100 500 7.0
2130 1 344 6.2
3077 1 375 8.2
The above is a bit surprising, but it is, of
course, not a statistically valid test.
The 3 different queries above brought back
3 *non-overlapping* data sets of row IDs only.
NO ID in set 1 is in set 2 or 3
NO ID in set 2 is in set 1 or 3
NO ID in set 3 is in set 1 or 2
Perhaps someone has some statistically valid
results they could share.
