CFMX not writing to application.log

We are using CFERROR in the application.cfm to capture errors that get generated by the application and output a nicer message to the user.

We used this method without any problems on CF45, after the upgrade to CFMX, the application.log is empty and not recording system errors as before. If we remove <CFERROR>, CFMX will write to the application.log?

Has anyone seen this?
