below to disable RDS:
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/6.1/htmldocs/config22.htm#wp1134341
However, I've just come across another article on the MM site that says I
need to go one step further and comment out another servlet in my web.xml
file referring to RDS:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/j2ee/cfmxj2ee_enabling.html#rds
Questions:
1) Why the discrepancy between the two notes? Is it because there's a
difference between diabling RDS on the standalone version of MX vs. the MX
for J2EE version (I'm using the J2EE version and have never used the
standalone version, so I don't know that answer)?
2) Is simply following the steps from the first link satisfactory, or do I
need to go in and comment out the other servlet as noted in the second link?
We *seem* to be OK by just following the first link, which is to say that we
can't connect via RDS to our production site. I just want to make sure I'm
not missing some exposed security hole or something.
Also, at this point, we have absolutely no need for Flash Remoting for my
company's web site (sorry to not jump on the RIA bandwagon, but that's more
than we need at the moment). That being said, can I comment out any
references in the web.xml file to the Flash Remoting gateway so that it's
not even loaded when MX is loaded? We do have the DISABLE_CFWS_ADAPTERS flag
set to true, but there are other mappings in that file that refer to FR, and
it doesn't make sense to me that they would need to be loaded at all.
Further, even though we have that flag set to true, when I go to
http://www.mysite.com/flashservices/gateway, I still get a blank page rather
than an error (or some such), which I thought was the test to determine
whether or not FR was working. Do I need to set more than just that flag to
successfully turn off the gateway?
Any insights on either topic is appreciated.
Regards,
Dave.
