1. Make sure no firewall software is running at the time you install cf.
2. Make sure you don't have ipsec or tcp/ip filtering enabled during installation.
3. If you don't have firewall stuff, your problem could be the regional settings of your server (some say you need to install the proper java base, you can download from sun.com).
4. Check permissions of cfusionmx/web-inf you need write permissions for system user.
the thing with firewall is, cf doesn't use localhost or 127.0.0.1 to connect to itself. Instead, it uses the static ip on your nic card. So you need to disable such software during installation.
There was also a command which you can execute with setup.exe which runs the setup with logging enabled. If the above do not do any good for you, you can go with the verbose installation.

Subject: RE: Error with Web Connector after installing CFMX 6.1
Went all the way back to CFMX 6.0 .
And there is still an error. This time CFMX 6.0 Professional never adds
the correct entries to IIS to handle .cfm pages.
This has resulted in a dialog box asking to open/save the index.cfm file
popping up whenever I try to access a .cfm page.
Does anyone know what could be causing all these errors? It looks to me
like a server config/IIS error at this point.

Ok let's go back to my original error.
Only by entering 127.0.0.1 directly instead of localhost did I get the
connector to do anything.
Obviously though, this was not the solution as it seems to have caused
errors later on.
Why can't I connect to the Jrun server that IS running using Localhost?
This is a single IP Developer version of CFMX 6.1 that I installed using
the 150MB RedSky install file.
