I would think the simplest solution would be to integrate with something
like mapquest.com or yahoo maps - I believe they both offer services for
integration with websites.


That way you not only get more features (driving directions, zoom maps,
distances, nearby amenities, etc) but you also offload the maintenance -
street names, changes in the map, new zip codes, etc to a third party.


Yes you will see the provider logo on the page, but if done well that can be
a benefit as your client will pick up some of the brand equity of the
provider as well.

  I'm not sure if you're US based, but if you are, then you can buy a
  database of complete Zip codes (the long versions, not just the 5 digit
  versions) which have a complete map reference on them - this should
  allow you to find the location relative to your map's location
