Yes, it does require a JVM, and it installs its own JVM - CFMX 6.1 installs
the Sun 1.4.2_02 JVM, I think. You can change JVM settings by editing the
jvm.config file in \JRun4\bin. You can even configure JRun to use different
JVMs for different JRun servers. I'd test your JVM with CFMX/JRun and your
applications before switching to it in production, though.
