This could be caused by a lot of things, I think. You might try connecting
to the site directly using a browser on the server console, just to ensure
that it's not a DNS thing or something like that.

Unless you've created a sandbox and specified that connections aren't
allowed unless explicitly listed, you shouldn't have to mess with this. You
can easily test this by trying an HTTP request to some server you can reach
from the console using a browser.
