I thought FlashComm...but it's probabaly overkill for what we're after.
I suppose something written in Java could be re-worked into CF using Java. The only bit I'm not quite sure of is this:
The updating of the chat on either side (more importantly on the client side) so that screen refreshes are not seen (i.e. the whole page flickers). I just tested an app that uses a "Java Window" (not 100% sure what's meant by that....mabye an applet). I could see my cursor skip a beat occasionally, and sometimes the mouse pointer would flip over to the hour glass, and some of my posts took longer to display in the chat history pane than others (all indicating some sort of refresh). The one thing I can't figure is how the whole display (graphics and text) didn't flicker on refresh??
Could gif pipes be used in some way to accomplish this? any other ideas?
BTW I'm just aftewr the basic chat functionaility and not all the live operator management and user tracking stuff that alot of these services offer....just nice and simple

I'm involved with a company that is using FlashComm Server chat with CF
as a way of real time support.
Haven't seen any others out there that use CF. Only PHP or Java.
