CF5 and Stored Procedures

I have a stored procedure that executes a somewhat complex query on a SQL 2000 database and returns a result set.  How do I access that result set using CF?  I've had lots of trouble getting the <cfstoredproc> and <cfprocparam> tags to work ( don't know what I'm doing wrong! > so I've been successfully using <cfquery> to execute stored procedures which don't return a result set, but now I have one that does and I'm stuck. Help!
