If we take the numbers at face value, it shows MS OS'es have more
advisories as the Linux kernel.

If we dig deeper, we see for instance:

All the comparisons based on these numbers are fundamentally
flawed because different functionality is counted as a part of
the OS. Is Debian really more insecure because it distributes
MySQL (without running or even installing it by default) on its
CDs and hence issues warnings for it? Or do they just try to
behave responsible and try to establish a central point that
issues "every warning you ever need to read" for Debian users?
