although altering tables, rows, columns, datatypes, and the such is much
faster
and easier in QA than EM. in my experience...

That does look like a very cool application and could be a good
replacement for Microsoft's Query Analyzer. However, if you do any kind
of DTS package creation, you really have to have Enterprise Manager.
Also, I find managing foreign key relationships and indexes to be much
easier using Enterprise Manager than any other tool. Sure I could write
out all my table definitions, indexes and constraints using pure T-SQL.
but why when it's so much faster and easier using EM.

A program I just started using and I think you might want to check out
yourself is "Aqua Data Studio". You can find it at
http://www.aquafold.com. It not only connects to SQLServer, but most of
the other RDBMSs out there.
