this is curious. can you show a sample of the code you're using to read the
utf-8 text files that fails? from my experience cffile seems to read utf-8
text in fine. since its not required (but a darned good idea), no s/w should
need it to process utf-8 files. heck, i hardly ever (well never actually)
see any XML files with a BOM in them.
