definitely anything before that won't be able to handle it. Many
small-device (PocketPC, Palm, etc) browsers can't handle script at all even
today.
Pretty much all recent desktop browsers can handle _javascript_, but they can
all disable it as well.
Also just because a browser might support _javascript_ doesn't mean it'll
support ALL script - it's still pretty hard to make browser independent
script.
It also doesn't mean (in many corporate environments for example) that the
user can choose to enable it.

Subject: RE: Does _javascript_ work within AOL's browser????
Thanks. I've got a User that emailed me using an AOL address and he/she
can't
use functionality that requires _javascript_. I've got an email into him/her
asking what type of computer they are using and browser type. Thought I'd
do
a little preliminary research about AOL.
Are you aware of browsers that can't use _javascript_?

Yup it does. as long as it's enabled. AOL uses Internet Explorer as the
browser core, so pretty much everything that works in IE works in AOL
(which
version of IE depends on which version of AOL).
