I've been a CF instructor for some years now and I don't remember
Allaire ever calling it "embedded". In the courses, we call it "cf
server-side validation".

Well, I don't recall if Allaire ever called it "Embedded" or not, my memory is not that photographic.  But where I found it yesterday, when I needed to refresh my memory on some options, was in "The ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit 4.0" by Ben Forta.  The section is called "Using ColdFusion Embedded Form Validation."  I just checked, and it is under the same heading in the MX edition.  All be it, this section is in the chapter "Form Data Validation: Using Server-Side Validation," chapter 15 and 12 respectively.

Ah well, at least I know it is still a valid feature, that was my concern when I could not initially locate it in my documentation yesterday.
