I suspect that it has nothing to do with CFMAIL.

Have you looked in the mail logs for cold fusion?  Are the mails being
put in the undeliverable mail folder (ie, C:\CFUSIONMX\mail\undelivr)?

Is the from address a local domain?  If not, your mail server may be
rejecting the messages as relay.
