You've got a boatload of great presenters. The conference is focused less on
marketing Macromedia and more on ways to leverage the technology. D.C. is a
great city. And TeraTech has done a great job of promoting this conference. Hats
off to you. - Paul Fraser

Now back to the interviews

In this interview, Michael Smith and Jeff Peters have a brief chat (yes, it's
less than 40 minutes long) about Jeff's upcoming CFUN presentation, "Fusebox 4
in 40 or Less."

Michael Smith: Why should people learn about Fusebox, Jeff?

Jeff Peters: It's all about focus, Michael.  Fusebox provides focus for a
project--no more "spaghetti code", no more disorganized approaches to building
applications, no more ... [Rest of interview at

Michael Smith: I am talking with Neil Ross about "Application Blueprinting" a
talk he is giving at CFUN-04. Why should programmers care about blueprinting
their applications?

Neil Ross: To be quite honest, Michael, developers generally don't think much
about the real value of application blueprinting, better known as DOCUMENTATION,
until they are lost without it. I've long held the belief that before a
developer starts to hammer out any code they should understand the customer's
needs well enough to articulate it on paper. Creating and maintaining a record
of the customer's requirements and the needed application processes is not
really the fun work, but should be viewed as being as important as the
application code itself.

MS: So what can happen when blueprinting is not done on a project?

*****
Michael Smith: I am talking with Nate Nelson about his talk at CFUN-04 called
"CF Admin". Why should a programmer come to this session?

Nate Nelson: This session will be very useful since the CF Admin is something
that we all may eventually use.  Not all of us are lucky enough to have someone
who manages the CF Admin so we have to learn to do it ourselves.  What a lot of
programmers don't realize is that the CF Admin is more than just a place to
create data sources.  There are a lot of great features to take advantage of and
it is also a great place for performance tuning.

MS: Can you really improve server performance in the Admin? Tell me more.
