Not so much. True you can increase performance just by adding bigger and
better servers but there comes a point where it is just not cost effective.
I had a single server running about 2 gig a day a while back, some site did
very well some didn't. In the end we figured out the best way to make CF
Scale was to write good code and test it.
If it does not perform the way you think it should go look at the code, if
you cannot make the site faster just by tweaking the code and the current
hardware you have then you should look into new hardware.
