Actually, I have accidently discovered that the put function goes to the
last non-local server I view.  So if I am, or have most recently viewed
the testing server, then when I put files they go there.  If I have not
viewed any non-local server, or I am currently, or I have most recently
viewed the remote server that is where the files go.  So I can somewhat
control where the files go, but I still think there should be more
obvious control of the routing of files when they are "put."

When you put a file, it goes to the remote server. The "testing server"
doesn't refer to a place where Dreamweaver site files are placed
automatically, and usually corresponds to either your local or remote
site
location. If I were you, I'd probably point my local site to your local
webroot, and just make sure I copied my files to the network when I'm
done.
