The idea is that it doesn't. After you tie Apache to PAM, Apache
handles all the authentication. Every request for a page has
already been authenticated by Apache/PAM before it is passed on
to CF. You can just accept the username as it is exposed by the
module you use because it is checked by the module you use. Just
like integrated Windows authentication.
