I am not sure if the requirement is for Apple Select Developer ($500
per year) or Apple Online Developer (free).
Last year I had a free subscription and I got Java 1.4 thru that
(AFAIKR).
But Apple may have changed that to paid developers, because Java 1.5
requires the OS X 1.4 Tiger Seed (which is only available to paid
developers (at this time).
