Subject: Re: SQL Server 2000 developer edition?
Noooo :-)
MSDE is available to anyone who has acopy of MS Office Pro, or any
other MS product that includes MSDE... for deployment, even. Its a
chopped down version of the SQL Server engine and contains no
Enterprise mgr, among other things.
The MS SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition is now a separate retail
product. Ages ago it was available as a trial download that expired
in, I think, 90 days. Now you get a nice retail box with a CD and, I
*think*, the product is the same as a retail SQL Server (I think the
E-Mgr is also restricted to one IP) except for the license.
Its a great way to get yourself a copy of the Enterprise Manager for
your dev projects without buying SQL Server.
