I've done it before a couple times. Did exactly that two days ago when w2k
on a machine went crazy. Copied what I needed and cdr'ed it all before
reformating the disk (needed to change the partition sizes anyway...).
If it's a dynamic disk you may have to manually mount it as foreign, but
otherwise all you have to do is setup the bios for the new hard drive.
(Unless you've been using w2k encryption -- then I think you're screwed.)
