Well the intent was to apply custom style to the file field -- which
can't be done with traditional html & CSS, so he was trying to do it
by showing a fake text input and button that he can apply styles to
and then swapping that out with the display of the real file field
when the button is pressed and then swapping it back out again when
the file is selected so that the only thing the user actually sees is
the fake inputs... though I think you're right, I'm not sure why you
would need to disable the field to do that.
