The non-Macromedia ColdFusion editors really need to add something
which Macromedia are IMHO getting complacent with.  RDS, as a
technology, needs to disappear for more secure and open standards and
be replaced with either:

- A SOAP / XMLRPC service for obtaining pretty much the same
information.  It would be really cool if the BlueDragon people worked
with the editors developers to create a standard for this and have a
selling point for a non-Macromedia solution.

- Simple FTP & queries.  Dreamweaver is able to provide RDS-like
functionality for the other scripting languages, e.g. PHP, where it
uploads scripts to the test site which obtains the required information
(e.g. a list of available databases) and then receives back the data in
a format it can process so it can show you the lovely UI.  This is just
a series of templated scripts that could be easily created.

Pick one, make it work, and many people will start using your editor.
