CFMX/jrun.exe Thread Count

This might be a ridiculous question to ask, but I thought I would anyway. On my box (hosting 3 sites), the thread count for jrun.exe hovers around 53. I've seen it go as high as 56 and as low as 48. When the box crashes, which happens not that often, the thread count goes to 80 and beyond.

So here's my question: what are some strategies in keeping the thread count down? I know this might be a tough question to answer (if not impossible), since you have no idea what kind of apps I'm running, but it's more of a general question...thanks...
