Complex Data Types in a webservice?

I am a noob to the world of webservices, but I have just created a webservice with the complex data type of a querybean successfully.  The client of this webservice is not using CF to consume it, they are using some .NET Microsoft product from my understanding of it. They want to know if I can return an XMLDoc instead of a querybean. Basically they want me to use the "QueryToXML" function as an idea to do this. Is it possible to return an XMLDoc in a webservice, to my understanding it doesn't seem possible. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated or if you have any other ideas on how to send this webservice? All ideas welcome and worth a try.
