I've looked into doing that before....it is doable ;-)

A local company (www.voicemobility.com) used to have a flagship product (now an add-on to another product) that essentially could read faxes and read them back to you over the phone.  The faxes were saved as multi-page TIFFs via the fax server software and some OCR software.

One of the original developers is Corey Anderson (I think his e-mail is [EMAIL PROTECTED] mention my name and that I'm from Victoria...hopefully he'll remember me).

Good luck ;-)

Subject: bardcode and signature extraction from tiff files

  Hi everyone,

I've got a job to quote and am looking for some software that can accomplish
extraction of a specified section of a tiff image (which is converted from a
fax) as well as read a barcode from a specific section of said image.
Basically the signature needs to be extracted and saved to a separate image
file.  Also, there will be a barcode that they have generated that needs to
be read and then the appropriate matching row in the databases needs to be
updated so the bill can be marked received.

Anyone ever do anything like this?  Any information will be appreciated.

  Thanks,

  Andy
