Well we are using an ntext field in that table.  As for the problem with
different machines I was referring to clients accessing the site via IE.
There is only one web server.  

We are running version 6,1,0,63958

Are you working with CLOB data in this SQL UPDATE statement? Are you
using
the same version of the DataDirect SQL Server driver on each machine?
That
is, have you installed any database driver updates (including CFMX 6.1
Updater 1) on one machine and not the other?

I would recommend that you install CFMX 6.1 Updater 1 on the problematic
machine. If you did that already, you might try using Microsoft's own
JDBC
driver, with which I've had excellent results.
