    Is it possible that on the desktop you're browsing from, you don't
have the font that you specify in your select?
   
    e.g. If you're not seeing columns aligned at this link:
        http://205.150.218.7/test/tsel.cfm

    then I'm guessing that you don't have the Andale Mono font
installed, and your browser is substituting possibly Ariel. Try
changing the font style to Courier New, or whatever you're using for
your monospaced font. On which, if you're "counting the total
characters and they're equal" and they still don't line up, then by
definition, that is not a mono-spaced font that you're looking at! Try
it in Notepad or something.

If you want to send me your code off-list, I'll give it a quick once-over
