well one of the things that u should applaud MM for is that they do try and
incorporate as many technologies as possible, unlike M$ whos stance basically is, "use
our stuff or else" (monopoly maybe?) But maybe if MM did show more of what cfm can do
it would get those ppl over from the other launguages. Its like all the fights i got
in on the flash coders lists with the php ppl cause they failed to believe that for
most users cfm is free. ANd these werent ppl who were making enterprise sized apps, so
of course its free but they still believe that cfm is a tag runner (like php) and that
somewhere MM is gunna make u fork over $1300. They have no idea what reality really is
but thats MM's fault for not taking a stand and making it clear. Majority of these ppl
have no clue that cfm is now java based and can run with jsp or even (choke) .net.
Sean was right earlier when he called php a 3rd wheel as it is neither java or .net
based, i mean what r these ppl thinking? They'd probably switch to cgi if someone
mentioned it was "cool" again ;)

regards to flash & flex, well in flex even a coder can make it look pretty friggin
good with no effort and less time then making a typical cfm page. But again I
personally think MM should really show how great of intregation that exists between
cfm, flash, flex, jsp, etc..
what do they have too loose by going at it hard? sales? to php ppl? ummmmmmmm, hummmm
maybe if they are informed correctly they will abdandon that mess of code and come to
the "clean side" ;)

and in flash and flex the ability to use cfc's is amazing, most times u dont even need
to use remoting. ANd the speed when using cfc's or remoting kicks ass. without them u
need mostly xml which creates way more overhead and is considerably slowerer, or soap
and neither of those can even come close to being as efficiant as cfm.
And what does php have? they can use xml, soap or remoting with amfphp. (sorry dave)
but it looks like the amfphp prodject is dead but is available still. But lets say
that Adobe picks up amfphp to try and get ppl away from MM and they fix all the issues
and get it running & secure. Well MM surely wouldnt like that and would probably
invoke there pattent on amf & sue the bejesus outta adobe(again), then what? Of course
thats just an imaginary scenario but something similar could indeed happen.

so while all these ppl are trying to use there "free" tools and constantly having to
change and learn new things, there sits cfm, still free for them with all the goodies
built in to them and are supported. But without them really knowing reality they arent
gunna change.

and the comments werent towards u by any means, just wrote it off the last post

but gotta a sorority site to work on, more interesting than my ramblings!
