Hi. I hope someone can advise me....
I just installed Oracle 8.1.5 (8i) on my system where I was previously
running Oracle 7.3.4
I was using the Oracle73 datasource quite successfully in Cold Fusion.
I migrated that database to Oracle8 using Oracle's migration tool.
I can successfully connect to that database using SQL*Plus and, when I do,
it tells me that I
have successfully connected to "Oracle8i Personal Edition Release
8.1.5.0.0 - Production"
I went into the Cold Fusion 4.5.1 Administrator, deleted the previous
datasource and re-entered it
selecting Oracle80 as the native driver (even though Oracle is at 8.1.5 --
not 8.0.x). The verification failed.
I deleted it again and re-entered it with Oracle73 as the native driver and
the verification succeeded!!!
How come? How come I connect to Oracle 8.1.5 thru SQL*Plus but still use the
Oracle 73 native driver
in Cold Fusion? When do I use the Oracle 8 driver in Cold Fusion?
Thanks for any enlightenment anyone can shed....

P.S. The Oracle server and the Cold Fusion Server are both on the same NT
box.
