I know it's not really relevant to THIS discussion, but some database
servers DO require parentheses around multiple joins.... our DB2
mainframe does. So I tend to use them in all situations.
ie...
SELECT ...
FROM
(( table1 inner join table 2 on ...)
inner join table 3 on ...)
inner join table 4 on ...
WHERE ...
