There's outside information and calculations that can't be done in the SQL. The system is crufty as hell and I'm trying to clean some of it up without going crazy. If/When I do a full job on it, I'll be moving code to the DB that should be in the DB. This is one of those systems where hardware (load balancing, ram, etc.) was added where tighter and proper coding could have done the job.
