In order to get your system running again you could try to 
optimize your TCP/IP parameters so you can use more ports on your 
server and they time out faster:

To find out what goes wrong, you could try using some 
packetsniffer (like Ethereal) and see where in the mail 
transaction the system hangs. (It almost looks like you are 
sending mail to an OpenBSD spamd daemon which is designed to 
consume resources from the mailer.)
