No, but you seem to just complain about ColdFusion and
ColdFusion-related things. Instead of complaining that you can't
afford a few hundred dollars to improve your skills (really?) you come
out, guns blazing, implying the conference organizers are insane.

Let's look at those prices...

CFUNITED is a three day conference so the early bird price is $150 a
day and it offers seven tracks. Last year about 600 people attended
and the overall feedback from them was "More! More! More!" - more
space, more speakers, more topics. Even if you turn up on the day,
it's less than $300 a day.

The early bird price for Software Development West is over $530 a day.
php{con was nearly $500 a day (early bird). JavaOne is about $400 a
day I think. ASP.NET Connections is around $350 a day (early bird). So
it doesn't seem to matter whether we're talking 'free' technology or
'proprietary'.

What about training courses? Cheaper? More expensive? TeraTech courses
are about $350 a day (very reasonable). Figleaf? About $500 a day. I
searched around and most ColdFusion training seems to range from $400
upward. Hal's Mach II course is about $600 a day (and well worth it,
BTW).

You won't invest in improving your skills? Don't see any ROI on
training and conferences? Isn't that a little short-sighted?

What about the networking opportunities? Connecting with other CFers
opens up more work opportunities.

The price wasn't even a blip on the scale as far as I was concerned -
last year's price was just ridiculously low, in my opinion - so the
only "idea" I had on the matter was that it's a very reasonable
package.
