I desagree also, the difference is completely marginal.
The only difference it makes is that inside <CFOUTPUT, CF has to look for chars 
#, < " and '  while outside it only has to look for < " and '

But considering that using more CFOUTPUT increase considerabily the overall 
number
of characters to parse, the effect can even be negative on the performance.
Any way, IMHO even if there is any difference, it would be so insignificant 
taht it is not worth
the trouble: I tend to use as large CFOUTPUT areas as possible, in as less 
number
as possible.
