Just went through it and have always chosen the Pent 4. M will give you longer battery life, and good performance. Pent 4 will reduce battery life but maintains the same crunch power of the desktop. It boils down to whether you are plugged in much or not. Mine is a desktop replacement, and wanted to keep the power as battery, etc was not as much of a concern to me. And the heat problem is completely wiped out with the new one I got last week from gateway...a 520 model. NO more burning thighs. *whew*
