Write a better one? Nah. I was just curious if this met your needs. I found a freeware program called "Snippet" that looks pretty good. The interface is a bit hokey, but it doesn't have the annoying "Are you sure you want to close this program" warning.
I also wish it would remember where I put it on my multi-monitor setup. I may give Snippet a try. It is pretty light-weight and searchable and free.
