Coldfusion 6.1 migrated 2 out of our 3 servers (v4.5 I believe) datasources without issue, but luckily on the failed migration we kept the old coldfusion installed so we could examine it's datasources and manually recreated them. I think that you can probably trust the migration tool, but make sure you have a backup plan.
