I hope you don't have any problems. I'm not sure I would dive into myself
though. It doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. :-)

I often cache lookup data in the application scope.  Things for select
lists and of that nature.  There is one project I put quite of bit of
data into the application scope for some searching screens.  It has
yet to get into a real environment, but am not forseeing problems.
