G'day Dave,

Thanks for your note, and I'm very flattered you recall working for
all those hours trying to get JRun working on my pc. I certainly
recall it, because I couldn't believe you'd spend that much time on my
problem. I was grateful then, and I'm still grateful.

What I ended up doing back then, was reformatting my drive, installing
WinXPPro, then loading CFMX6.0 onto the bare-bones Windows. Then I
added everything on top of that. Obviously, whatever was preventing
JRun from working was one of my other apps, or perhaps McAfee
anti-virus.

Now I'm up against the exact same problem. CF7 can't find a JRun to
connect to. I've tried abandoning CF7 and going back to CF6.1, but I
hit the same brick wall again.

My problem really boils down to finding out what it is outside of CF
that is preventing JRun from installing correctly. I suspect it's
likely to be the same thing that prevents Central apps running, and
when I go to Macromedia to download CF7, it says the page cannot be
displayed. (While other people can)

So as I see it now, I have only a few alternatives, since I can't go
forward to CF7 or back to CF6 :

[A] Reformat my hard drive and start all over again. Install
WinXPPro, then SP2, then CF7. Then spend days reinstalling all my
apps. (sigh - only if I can't find another way out of this mess).
[B] Find out and solve what's stopping JRun from installing and
running properly. (that might also solve several other problems too).

I've decided to go with [B]. It will also mean having a go at using
CF7 with the built-in server, as you suggest. Perhaps that will get
around this brick wall.

Further down the road, I think I have to bite the bullet and rebuild
this machine anyway, but it's not an option right now. Not for a month
or so at least.

Cheers
