I believe you will also have to use an alternative port with the stand alone
server, instead of port 80 if you install under IIS.

If you have IIS-specific functionality that you want to use with your CF
application, then yes. For example, we occasionally use ISAPI filters in
conjunction with CF applications. Otherwise, not so much. It's certainly
easier to set CF up to use its own built-in web server than to use IIS, it's
one less thing you have to administer on your own workstation, and you can
always change your mind later and connect CF to IIS.

It doesn't really make much difference either way. CFMX and .NET can coexist
nicely even within a single virtual IIS web server (which is all that you
can run on Windows XP or any other Windows desktop OS).
