My personal suggestion.

Leave external IM gateway writing to the jabber community, and just use
XMPP with CF.

This simplifies the CF-side and takes advantage of many things already
in existence for multi-network IM.

Subject: Re: Dumb Event Gateway question

I started a search for just that yesterday, I didn't find anything yet,
but if anyone does please post it. By my understanding Zion is having
issues with AOL and AOL not wanting others to use thier protocols so
just be ware if you start messing with a gateway for AOL and aol catches
wind of it you might be getting a call, Idon't know the details of what
AOL takes issue with just that there is an issue... I did a quick
google for Yahoo Protocal but I didn't see anything blantently obvious
in a quick scan of the results...someone else might have better luck :)
