Think of it as a lock condition. You get all the emails from your 
server. You process them, stick 'em in a database or whatnot, then empty 
your mailbox. Everything in there is gone, including any messages that 
come in during your processing time that you didn't see.

I'm no POP3 expert, so correct me if this isn't possible.
